Russ Matthys, City of Eagan, received the 2011 CEAM Engineer of the Year Award
Russ Matthys, Eagan city engineer, was selected as the City Engineer of the Year for 2011. The award was presented at the CEAM 2012 Annual Conference.
Russ is responsible for the overall administration, management and supervision of the City's Engineering and Water Quality Division of the Public Works Department, providing technical studies and professional engineering work in the design, construction and contract management of public works projects, and ensuring compliance with city standards, policies, and code requirements in a highly professional and effective manner.
He has produced numerous professional presentations, publications, and papers; received a variety of awards and recognitions, including Eagan's coveted Spririt Award (employee of the year) just four years after being hired; participates in many technical and professional society activities; and, probably most importantly, finds time to be engaged in several civic and humanitarian causes.
As stated in the nomination form, Russ "has a strong moral compass and is a professional of the highest integrity, and helped build a culture of innovation and support" within his city. His nomination also included letters of recommendation from the MSPE Executive Director, Dakota County, Black Hawk Middle School, and the City of Eagan.
Russ has been a dedicated member of CEAM since 1990 and has continually provided outstanding service to the communities he’s worked in and to numerous professional and community organizations, including CEAM.
Congratulations, Russ!
