Lee Gustafson, City of Minnteonka, received the 2007 CEAM Engineer of the Year Award.

Lee Gustafson, Minnetonka city engineer, was selected as the CEAM Engineer of the Year Award winner for 2007. The award was presented during the CEAM 2008 Annual Conference.

As Minnetonka city engineer since 1995, Lee combines the abilities of a skilled civil engineer with those of an accomplished communicator/negotiator. In addition, his exemplary people skills allow him to move projects forward under the most difficult of circumstances.

Lee has spent many hours over the past several years working with the Minnesota Department of Transportation and Hennepin County on many projects, including the reconstruction of I-494 through Minnetonka, the reconstruction of County Road 101 from Highway 7 to Minnetonka Boulevard, and the proposed reconstruction of County Road 61 from Bren Road to Excelsior Boulevard.

During a time when government projects are often controversial, Lee offers his reasoned counsel, comes up with practical solutions, and brokers acceptable compromises.

He engenders great respect from city residents, his employees, the contractors he oversees, and from his colleagues in the engineering field.
